Our Approach
A neuropsychological evaluation typically consists of three stages:

-
Initial Intake
-
Assessment Visit
-
Final Feedback Session
Families have the option to consider additional observational and/or consultative services, as needed/requested.

Initial Intake
The initial intake evaluation is a one-hour interview aimed at identifying the presenting problems or concerns and determining the appropriate assessment measures and protocols for your child’s evaluation. An evaluation is then typically scheduled within 4-6 weeks of the intake appointment. At the time of the initial intake, all client paperwork, relevant contact information for providers or educators, and relevant records (former reports, school records, mental health documents) should be completed and/or submitted for review. These visits are typically virtual.
Assessment Visit
This visit lasts anywhere between 3-6 hours. Your child will come into the office, and depending on their age, you may drop them off or remain in the waiting room. Assessments cover multiple domains including intelligence, attention, learning and memory, language skills, visual-spatial/perceptual skills, motor skills, problem-solving and critical thinking, working memory, planning, organization, novel problem-solving, academic achievement, as well as social and emotional functions.

Final Feedback Session
During this final appointment, we review the data and results from the evaluation, offer diagnostic and clinical impressions, discuss therapeutic, academic, and clinical recommendations, and answer any additional questions at that time. Your child may attend this meeting if you would like, and in several instances, it may even be recommended. Depending on your child’s age, we can discuss what information you would like to have shared with them and how. I also offer a two-part feedback, with parents and child separately. These visits are typically virtual.

Observation
A one-hour school or community observation is an optional component of the evaluation. A discrete observation involves no interaction between the examiner and child and is best done before the assessment visit to preserve anonymity.

Consultation
There are a range of post-evaluation consultative services that we provide. We are available to attend IEP meetings or other school meetings, consult with other providers, or provide ongoing consultation to families, as needed. This component is optional and is not typically included in a standard evaluation, and is offered only upon request.
